Hey Aperture is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com. We may earn a commission when you click a link on this site and make a qualifying purchase, at no additional cost to you.

What we collect

If you use the Gear Finder quiz, your answers stay in your browser only — nothing is sent to our servers or stored.

If you submit a photo through "Share your shot" on a guide page, we collect the image file, the caption and any gear notes you provide, and an optional name or handle if you choose to include one. This is stored on our servers (via Supabase) and reviewed before anything is published publicly. We don't collect your email or require an account to submit.

We use standard server logs and hosting-provider analytics (e.g. page views, general location from IP) common to any website.

User-submitted content

By submitting a photo, you confirm you own the rights to it (or have permission to share it) and grant Hey Aperture a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on this site and in related promotional material, with credit to the name/handle you provide, if any. You can request removal of a submission at any time by contacting us at hello@heyaperture.com.

Cookies

We use one functional cookie for our internal content-review tool, which regular site visitors never encounter. We don't currently use tracking or advertising cookies.
